About Rob Cleve & Glass Art Designs
I love doing original, collaborative stained glass (lead or copper foil) and fused glass designs for your home or as personalized gifts for friends & family . It’s tremendous fun bringing a shared project vision to life while staying true to my own process. I look forward to continuing those important collaborations in Colorado, across the U.S. and internationally. I’m open to all who would like to work together. This can happen with either leaded or copper foiled stained glass or fused glass. Across the various pages I have some examples of the work I’ve accomplished to date and will continue to add photos as I’m able to recapture them.
The fused glass objects that I make are all original designs and have come from several years of bringing my own ideas to fruition along with some of my previous glass students from Chicago. My goal is to develop and implement an eCommerce page for ease of making purchases of the original pieces as gifts or for the purchasers enjoyment.
I started Glass Art Designs in Chicago around 2000 in an effort to bring together the world of stained glass, fused glass and architectural enhancements across the city. When I achieved my PhD in International Psychology in 2012 I had to make a choice about continuing the business or focusing exclusively only teaching in a higher education system. This allowed me to travel globally for the past 7 years and work with an amazing group of students. I moved to the mountains of Colorado in 2017 and decided to regenerate the business calling it Glass Art Designs-Colorado. Over the past year I decided to take an early retirement and focus once again on the process of glass.
I greatly enjoy, and have missed, the ability to be creative and have some “right brain” fun. I’ve reconfigured my cabin home making the lower level a full on glass studio. I’ve purchased a large kiln and have put together the elements of the studio from Chicago that I found to be the most beneficial in producing glass objects and stained glass windows. One unique component that I include in the windows is a technique I learned from Steph Brady at the green cat gallery in Salida, CO. This involves incorporating one or more fused glass pieces within a traditional stained glass designs; we both love to create and each take our work in very different directions. The window design can incorporate either leaded or copper foil techniques.
