What fascinates me about working in the fused and warm glass medium is the design process required to achieve the desired outcome. Testing, patience, and experimentation is essential to determine how each type of glass will behave with companion glass pieces. At what temperature and time in the kiln do we arrive at the desired slump and shape of the glass design? When do we achieve the delicate glass form or sturdy glass structure? Are we able to retain the intended design definition of the glass design or does it surprise us with a different, but still appealing result? Glass brings as many variations and challenges to the artistic endeavor as any other material an artist chooses to adopt as their preferred medium. Glass is my passion. It never ceases to lure me back to my workbench and inspire me to explore a new technique or meet a design challenge.
